Cognitive Hypnotherapy offers a highly individual approach. Very often if you visit a hypnotherapist they will simply read you a set script for a certain problem. So if you wanted to stop
smoking you would hear the same script that anyone else wanting to stop smoking would hear. The problem with this approach is that it can be a bit hit and miss – if the set script doesn’t contain the right words that your unconscious needs to hear to stop smoking it can have little or no effect. As a Quest
Institute trained therapist I operate differently to get you the best results for your issue – I do not believe in a one size fits all approach.
At our initial session which usually lasts around an hour I will ask questions about you and the unique way that you experience your issue and in particular we will focus on how things will be in your life when you no longer have the issue. This information will allow me to create truly bespoke suggestion patterns that will help you make the biggest changes in the shortest amount of time. The suggestions will be based on your reality and no one else’s, using unique hypnotic language patterns known as Wordweaving.
Hypnosis is a natural phenomenon – we all go into hypnosis everyday. Common examples are the driving trance – have you ever been totally lost in thought while driving and suddenly ‘woken up’ and wondered who was driving the car while you were day dreaming? Or maybe you have been so absorbed in watching TV or reading a book that someone has stood close by talking to you and you didn’t hear a word? That’s everyday hypnosis – when your mind is totally focused on one thing - and it’s a relaxing enjoyable experience. In therapy we use these naturally occurring states to help make the changes you want because while in hypnosis your unconscious mind (which is where changes happen) is open to the suggestions that help you most. You will always be in control – just like in a day dream you can ‘wake up’ whenever you want and many people report feeling extremely relaxed and positive during and after hypnosis.
NLP
Neuro Linguistic Programming is a form of communication psychology. The founders of NLP studied many different forms of psychotherapy, took the key ingredients that worked and boiled them down to brief techniques to help many different issues.
How can it help you? NLP has developed a range of therapeutic interventions that can achieve powerful results in a short space of time. Our brains are excellent learning instruments but sometimes we learn patterns of behavior and thinking that don’t work for us. NLP interventions help undo and interrupt these negative patterns and install better programs at an unconscious level. These changes need to take place at an unconscious level and are consolidated with hypnosis, because let’s face it if you could consciously solve your issue you wouldn’t be reading this.
